Join Us to Oppose the Leadbeater Bill on 29th November
Not Dead Yet UK invites you to join us for a rally outside Parliament on College Green, from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm, on Friday, 29th November. Together, we will make our voices heard against the Leadbeater Bill, which proposes dangerous changes to the law on assisted suicide.
This Bill threatens the most vulnerable in society, not just those with terminal illnesses but disabled and older people to. Changing the law could lead to significant risks, including a pressure to end lives prematurely due to societal or financial burdens, a lack of palliative or social care. We cannot allow this to become a reality.
What to Expect at the Rally
We’re bringing placards, T-shirts, and ponchos to help you stand out and make an impact on the day. All you need to bring is your voice, your determination, and perhaps a warm coat and some snacks! The rally is a chance to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with like-minded people who are passionate about protecting the rights and safety of disabled and older individuals.
Why Your Voice Matters
The Leadbeater Bill will have its second reading in Parliament that day, and it’s vital we show MPs that their constituents care deeply about this issue. Some influential figures have already spoken out against the Bill, including the Secretary of State for Health and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Organisations like Disability Rights UK, representing 350 member groups, the British Geriatric Society, and the Royal College of GPs have also opposed these changes.
But there’s still time to make an even greater impact. Contact your MP today and urge them to vote against this dangerous legislation. A personal letter or email explaining your concerns can make all the difference. Here is a link to a Letter Template.
Let’s Protect the Rights of All
This isn’t just about opposing a Bill; it’s about standing up for a society that values and protects everyone, especially its most vulnerable members. We know the risks posed by this Bill and must show Parliament that we reject it.
Join us on 29th November and add your voice to the growing chorus of opposition. Let’s send a clear, united message: We are Not Dead Yet, and we won’t let this Bill put lives at risk.
See you at College Green!
