The Fight is Far from Over
Today marked a pivotal moment in Parliament as MPs cast their votes on the Assisted Suicide Bill. The result—330 votes to 275 in favour—was not the outcome we hoped for, and it’s fair to say emotions ran high. However, while we may have lost this round, our fight is far from over.
The rally outside Parliament was an inspiring show of determination and unity. Disabled people travelled from all corners of the country, from Leeds to the South Coast, to make their voices heard. Their journeys were not easy, but their commitment was unwavering. Everyone who turned out made a powerful statement: we will not be sidelined.
Although the bill has progressed, we have time to regroup and push back. The next reading is expected in April 2025, and between now and then, we’ll be working tirelessly to raise awareness and influence MPs. This is just one chapter in a much longer story, and we remain determined to ensure it ends with justice and dignity for all.
We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported Not Dead Yet UK. Whether you wrote to your MP, joined us at the rally, or sent donations and good wishes, your efforts have been extraordinary. You’ve shown what a strong, united community can achieve.
This isn’t a loss—it’s a step in a much bigger journey. Together, we’ll keep going, stronger and more resolute than ever. Let’s build on today’s momentum, turn disappointment into action, and make sure our message is impossible to ignore.
Thank you for rolling with us every step of the way. We’ll be back, louder and prouder than ever.
The fight continues—and together, we’ll win.
